Teaching & Learning Training Specialist 3 - Theory & Practice In Teacher EducationRegular, Full-time, Market Range 10

Instructor: The primary purpose of the position is to work independently and with faculty, other program instructor(s), and the Tennessee Department of Education to adapt current UT graduate coursework content to develop and deliver media-based asynchronous online learning modules for teachers to gain additional teaching endorsements. Specific responsibilities are outlined below. This position will also include supervision and collaboration with other UT staff and/or students (Graduate Assistants).

This position requires advanced skills in preparing online instruction formats which may include: Powerpoint, video/audio recording/editing, using Canvas, Excel, Google forms, etc. 

This position is fully funded by an external grant. This position has a limited duration and will expire at the end of the grant-funded project.

Position responsibilities include:

Adapt current UT graduate coursework content to develop and deliver media-based asynchronous online learning modules for teachers to gain additional teaching endorsements; seek and secure approval for instructional adaptations from the Tennessee Department of Education; design and embed assessment procedures within learning modules; monitor learners’ progress; develop and implement procedures for identifying and providing additional learner supports when needed; and use evaluation information to refine learning module content, expectations, and assessments

Work with the Tennessee Department of Education to develop and maintain efficient processes for enrolling, orienting, and communicating with learners. Ensure learners have access to online learning platform; respond to and resolve learners' technology issues.

Develop and implement effective processes for evaluating learner progress and program completion.

Consult with the Tennessee Department of Education to determine goals and expectations for the program; develop and use systems to document learner enrollment, progress, and program completion; gather and summarize data on program effectiveness and develop processes and procedures for program improvement; and prepare and submit annual written program summaries to the Tennessee Department of Education.

Ensure learners have access to required licensure exams near or at program completion; and assist UT Office of Professional Licensure to ensure timely submission of additional endorsement recommendation to the Tennessee Department of Education.



Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge and skills related to special education procedures and instruction in K-12 school settings; Advanced knowledge of research-based instructional and behavioral strategies for students with disabilities; Knowledge of procedures for special education teacher preparation in a college or university setting, including licensure requirements and professional standards; Skills for online college-level instruction and including abilities to develop and use assessment procedures to evaluate learner outcomes; Excellent interpersonal skills; Organizational skills; Skills for using typical technology (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, web-based applications, Canvas, video editing software, Excel, etc.); Knowledge of data collection and analysis strategies; Skills for developing written reports on project outcomes

Required Education and Experience: Hold a Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field; Experience teaching graduate-level coursework at a college or university in advanced special education instruction, methods, and/or assessment; Experience teaching special education in K-12 public schools

Preferred Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced skills and knowledge related to research-based strategies and interventions in special education and advanced skills and knowledge related to special education assessment procedures

Required Education and Experience: Hold a Doctoral Degree in Special Education; Have held a Special Education teaching license; Experience teaching online or hybrid components of graduate-level coursework at a college or university in advanced special education instruction, methods, and/or assessment; Experience in providing supervision to special education pre-service teachers through a college or university.
