Job Summary

The Director of Student Success identifies, develops and implements interventions for students with high need for support. This position also supports the configuration and training of student success technology needed to effectively deliver student support across all College campuses. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees. This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment.This is a temporary grant funded position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversees the operations of the College Success Coach (CSC) team in order to launch and institutionalize student success initiatives
  • Provides leadership and improves the retention and completion of students identified as high need for support across gateway and low-pass-rate courses
  • Leads all collaboration efforts between Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and holistic student support teams to develop and align student interventions with needs
  • Coordinates development of measurable annual objectives aimed to increase student engagement and accountability for student success
  • Defines, monitors and resolves support processes and key performance metrics required to facilitate service improvement
  • Develops and executes strategies for effective use of technology in student and academic support services
  • Manages training and development of faculty and staff, across the College, involved in early alert and student success initiatives; training scope includes technology, theoretical and procedural
  • Leads and manages the development of early alert systems between faculty, academic support services, advisement, Single Stop, testing, ACCESS (disability services), mental health counseling, Dean of Students, Financial Aid and grant programs
  • Coordinates with care team super users to configure, validate and maintain technology platforms for the following care units: Faculty, Advising, Tutoring, Library, International Student Services, Honors College; Single Stop, Dean of Students, Grade Appeals, and Veteran Student Services
  • Organizes and documents service activities that facilitate quality service metrics reporting for student coaching
  • Identifies and advocates for appropriate support resources needed to deliver service within College and campus service areas
  • Provides coaching evaluations, supervises outreach initiatives, and coordinates team initiatives in support of student success
  • Participates in the development of grant opportunities
  • Hires, supervises, and evaluates personnel
  • Participates in College committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field and four (4) years of experience in higher education and student services; or Bachelor’s degree in a related field and eight (8) years of experience in higher education and student services
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MDC student services and advising processes and structures
  • Ability to design and implement new processes and initiatives
  • Excellent management skills to lead teams and develop and implement processes
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects and work within established deadlines
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and effectively develop programming based on the results
  • Possess effective leadership, problem solving, negotiation, systems thinking, and decision-making skills to work with College and Campus leaders
  • Ability to develop and administer assessments to evaluate programs and make recommendations for improvements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
