Major Duties

Under the general supervision of the Theatre Department Chair, the Lead Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the production processes that take place in Department spaces including Theatre Department Productions, TeenAge Drama Workshop (TADW), other University events, and outside special events. The incumbent performs complex technical and administrative work.

  • Plans, organizes, and oversees all theatre productions and associated spaces. Maintains the master calendar of events and guides the operation of University/College and outside events in Theatre Dept.
  • Works closely with faculty, staff, students, and guest artists in order to facilitate communication among all production team members.
  • Initiates building maintenance and repair requests to Chair ensuring building safety for department productions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field. Bachelor's degree in Theatre or Drama is preferred.
  • Equivalent to three years of full-time, progressively responsible technical, analytical, or administrative experience. Preferred experience is in production management and/or stage management in a League of Resident Theatres (LORT) company, major opera company, including one year of lead responsibility.
  • Additional experience in job-related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required education, on a year for year basis.
  • Master of Fine Arts degree in Production Management, Theatre Management, or Stage Management and two years of professional experience in production management and/or stage management in a LORT company, major opera company, or equivalent including one year of supervisory or lead responsibility, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty and operational analysis and techniques.
  • Knowledge of: theatre technology principles, practices and equipment; pertinent local, state, and federal laws relating to venue management; design principles and practices; theatre safety principles and practices; theatre literature and tradition. Familiarity with technical theatre, music, and dance terminology.
  • Ability and specialized skills to expertly investigate and analyze problems with a broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to: oversee and/or train others and provide lead work direction; interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures to develop conclusions and make recommendations; compile, write and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; and communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of college and university theatre programs and operational characteristics, services, and activities of a theatre arts program, strongly preferred. Capability to oversee financial and human resources transactions is a plus.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Classification: 1038 / Admin Analyst / Specialist
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3897 -$5400, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3897 -$7051 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.
  • REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
