Job Summary:

The Public Information Assistant/Graphic Designer (Part-time Hourly position) is responsible for the design, production, and promotion of materials, including student engagement social media accounts, to publicize Lamar State College Port Arthur activities and events.Design and produce flyers, brochures, posters and other materials to promote events and activities.Assist in distributing promotional information throughout the campus and the community.Assist in the management of all social media platforms, to include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.Assist in the shooting and editing of video for use with the college’s website, social media accounts and television commercials.Coverage of men’s basketball and women’s softball games, with some travel, for statistics, photography, media relations, and other related activities.Assist in management of the college’s main website as well as the school’s athletics website.Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required. Prefer Associate’s degree or equivalent college hours. A combination of college hours and career experience may stand in place of a degree.

Working knowledge of graphic design and video design software, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere.Experience with DSLR photography equipment and video equipment. Sports photography experience is a bonus.Basic website front-end editing experience. HTML knowledge is a plus.Journalistic writing experience with attention to Associate Press style.Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision and with attention to details and deadlines.Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, faculty, staff and the public.
Needs to have a valid Drivers License and a good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

Requires constant sitting, walking, and seeing. Requires frequent standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds; operating a personal computer, calculator, and various office equipment. Requires infrequent stooping, bending, sorting, and filing.

SALARY :

Salary: $15/hour, 19.5 hours per week.

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday with some weekends up to 19.5 hrs a week
