General Description:

The Anesthesia Technology faculty position has the primary responsibility for supporting student learning by providing quality instruction in courses that the Dean/Program Director agree will be taught. Quality instruction includes clear course objectives prepared and relevant class activities, effective and understandable presentations of learning material, fair and understandable grading practices (credit classes only), timely response to students, and a positive atmosphere in the classroom. The position will assist, under the direction of the Dean/Program Director, to maintain the anesthesia technology program in compliance with general policies of Oklahoma City Community college and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

Minimum Education/Experience:

Minimum of an Associate’s degree award by an institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and current ASATT Technologist Certification.

Minimum of five years full-time or equivalent experience as an Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Anesthetist, or Anesthesiologist.Must possess at least one of the following valid and current:
- Certification as an Anesthesia Technologist OR
- Unencumbered license as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist OR
- Unencumbered license as a Board Certified Anesthesiologist

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Support and willingness to teach in a competency-based instructional system utilizing hybrid (online and in person) teaching.Ability to work in a diverse campus community.Maintenance of current American Heart Association CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification.Annual TB testing or monitoring as well as other required immunizations for the clinical setting.Complete other requirements that may be necessary (e.g., quarterly Safety Training).

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person frequently to communicate with and listen to students, patients, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.This position requires the person frequently to remain in a standing and stationary position in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment, and mobile devices to prepare instructional documents, answer email correspondence, and complete other activities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.This position requires the person frequently to operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.This position requires the person frequently to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment.This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.This position requires the person frequently to position self to work with classroom, lab, or clinical equipment to instruct or assist students and patients.3. VISUAL ACUITY
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position’s essential functions are performed in an indoor, classroom, office, lab and hospital setting.This position requires the person to be exposed to infectious diseases.The position requires the person occasionally to function around prisoners, mental-health patients, or agitated, hostile patients.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):

In addition to the primary responsibility for supporting student learning, an Anesthesia Technology faculty member is expected to: Manage program and course curricula by writing course syllabi. Fulfill course, program, and department goals and objectives. Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and college administrators. Attend department, division, and College meetings as required. Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline. Maintain license or professional certification specific to program requirements. Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments. Support the College’s vision, mission, goals, and priorities. Essential Functions: Participate in the adjunct orientation each semester. Ensure that students receive quality education and are provided with every possible learning opportunity. Exhibit appropriate professional attire (business casual) and behavior. Serve as an appropriate mentor and role model for students and adjunct faculty. Provide a safe learning environment for students. Follow all course objectives and stated learning experiences as outlined in the course syllabus. Document and notify AT Program Director of any classroom management problems or excessive student absences that occur. Utilize the College resources in support of student success as needed. Timely submission of student reports required by OCCC and/or ATT program.Timely submission of requested information supporting ATT program needs. Maintain regular communication with the ATT Program Director via College email. Timely preparation of classroom materials utilizing the College print management system. Adhere to posted office hours.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
