Job Details

The role of the Resident Director is to assist in creating and maintaining a positive, student-centered community within the residence halls. This includes the establishment of programs and services which foster respect, dignity, collegiality and civility among residential students, in unison with the ethics and spirit of the College's Mission.

• Live-in professional position within a specified campus residence facility.
• Manage all residence hall operations within his/her assigned area including, but not limited to: student programming, housing assignments/room changes, key inventory, damage billing, check-in/check-out, maintenance/housekeeping requests, furniture inventory and coordination of replacements/repairs, and Health and Safety Inspections.
• Participate in the on-call duty rotation.
• Supervise and mentor Resident Assistants (para-professionals) within his/her residential area.
• Serve as a conduct officer for assigned resident students.
• Serve on the Emergency Planning Committee.
• Work collaborativley with campus offices and establish appropriate relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
• Provide/Utilize conflict resolution/crisis management skills.
• Participate in various Central Office functions including, but not limited to, Housing Assignment Process, Student Program Development, and specified Central Office hours coverage.
• Assist with the coordination of summer camps and conferences.
• Participate in Student Life and campus wide events (i.e., Orientation, Homecoming, Commencement, and others).
• Serve on divisional and/or campus wide committees as requested (students of concern, Title IX).
• Additional functions by skill/interest:
o Coordinate/ supervise late night/weekend programming (in cooperation with Assistant Director of Student Activities).
o Coordinate welcome weekend activities and serve as liaison for orientation programs.
o Coordinate student staff selection, training, and development.
o Serve a a Student Conduct Code Investigator.

o Oversee building wide programming budget Education: Bachelor's Degree; Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, or related field preferred. Experience: a minimum of two years of experience in residence life/student affairs or related field. Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Experience with data management, Microsoft Office applications, and staff supervision is beneficial. Strong organizational/management skills and an ability to adapt and respond to changing needs of students and the University is necessary.
