The Registered Nurse (RN)-Surgical manages complex patient care situations; demonstrates advanced clinical assessment, problem-solving and communication skills; maintains a recognized area of clinical expertise and uses it in practice, teaching and consultation; participates in the planning and facilitation of needed changes and involves other members of the healthcare team as indicated. Performs other duties as needed.

Completion of Registered Nursing (RN) program required. Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate required.

Ability to assemble, trouble shoot and calibrate patient care equipment and perform technical patient care activities; writing and speaking skills necessary for the job. Ability to relate positively and professionally to patients, families and members of the healthcare team; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure, communicate effectively with others; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Ability to communicate in English verbally, in writing and on the telephone; think critically; calculate; manage several assignments simultaneously; organize and prioritize workload; work independently with minimal supervision. Minimum vision corrected to 20/40; ability to distinguish colors; hearing ability sufficient for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and to identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace/patient care; able to discern temperature variances through touch.
