The HR Specialist will be responsible for coordinating employment efforts for campus-wide departments with recruitment, posting of job openings, candidate selection, job offers, and the completion of onboarding. This position will stay current with recruitment trends related to higher education and establish positive relationships with Department Representatives and Hiring Managers. Ensures outstanding customer service is provided to all internal and external customers and plays a critical role in ensuring we are hiring the best possible talent.
Ensures integrity and compliance of employment policies and procedures and hiring laws and regulations with all University recruiting efforts and hires. Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the recruitment process for University vacancies. Monitors reports and assists with system and process improvements.
Responsible for assisting with and attending job fairs and community events, representing the University, and utilizing recruiting initiatives. Public speaking to include facilitating training classes for University-wide customers.
Assist with reception area when needed and assists applicants via phone and in person.
Bachelor's degree in a related area and two years of related work experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience related to the duties of this position. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Experience delivering excellent customer service.
Experience with human resources processes and systems.
Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, as required for the needs of the audience.
Experience prioritizing multiple work assignments and projects at a time.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web applications or other compatible software.
