Responsibilities

Serves as maintenance support worker for the department of Campus Recreation. Performs or assists with general preventive maintenance, repairs, and construction projects in all of Campus Recreation facilities as directed, utilizing skills in carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and groundskeeping. Assists with preventive maintenance and safety inspections to mechanical bleachers, basketball goals, and gym divider curtains. Hangs bulletin boards, signs, plaques, etc. Paints offices, hand rails, columns, and interior/exterior of cabins. Assists with installing ceiling fans and light fixtures including hanging electrical conduit and pulling wires to fixtures. Replaces lights in offices, locker rooms, and stairwells. Assists other Campus Recreation maintenance staff with maintenance as needed.Responsible for assisting with set-ups for special and Athletic events held in Campus Recreation facilities. This includes, but not limited to setting up gymnasium bleachers including portable end-zone bleachers, setting up athletic equipment, PA system, covering the gym floor, and setting up tables and chairs. Provide general facility supervision and emergency maintenance/custodial support during events. Cleans and restores facility and restrooms to original condition after events. Work will require occasional schedule adjustment and/or overtime.Responsible for overall cleaning and maintenance of wood floors in Campus Recreation facilities. This includes policing for trash removal, sweeping, removing scuff marks and gum, applying floor dressing and scrubbing floors. Responsible for equipment set-up and take down for LAP classes on gym floors and surrounding courts and fields (badminton, basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc.).Responsible for daily policing for trash removal, inspection of windscreens, tennis nets and standards and the Speicher Complex and Westside Courts. Perform/assist with repairs as needed and blows off courts as required at each facility.Provides assistance to faculty and staff within Campus Recreation facilities. Attend to the daily functions of all Campus Recreation facilities. Assist with groundskeeping at various facilities, including cutting grass, weed eating, trimming hedges, lining fields, and dragging in-fields. Machines and equipment used regularly includes but is not limited to: hand and power tools, back pack blower, floor machinery/buffer, lawn mower/weed eater, high lift, and pressure washer.Clean interior/exterior of all Campus Recreation vehicles. Perform preventative maintenance checks as requested by departmental work order.

Qualifications Completion of ninth grade.

Ability to meet the physical demands of this position to include lifting/moving up to 50 pounds, work in extreme outdoor conditions, and work from heights of 35 feet.

Experience with general preventative maintenance of facilities.

Must possess a valid Florida or Georgia Class E driver's license or the ability to obtain upon hire.
