UNT’s Jazz Studies program is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most respected and was the first-degree program of its kind in the field.Position Summary:
Our faculty members are dedicated teachers as well as nationally and internationally known performers. They’ve earned Grammy Award nominations, toured internationally, conducted classes at the renowned Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops, and written books about jazz.
We provide you many opportunities to perform with on- and off-campus ensembles. This includes the One O’Clock Lab Band, which has earned six Grammy Award nominations and toured Europe, Japan, Thailand, and Australia. We also sponsor the acclaimed Jazz Singers.
The Department of Jazz Studies seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2021, Spring 2022, and Summer 2022 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses to develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs. Minimum Qualifications:
The anticipated course assignment is to teach both the classroom and online sections of Jazz History. All instruction will take place on the UNT Denton campus.
Master’s Degree in music required. Expertise in teaching jazz-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching jazz performance with reference to the standards of performance of the UNT Jazz Studies program.Work Schedule:
