Join the Stanford School of Medicine Human Resources team in leading and changing medicine as we know it today. Reporting to the Directing Business Partner of Employee and Labor Relations, the Employee and Labor Relations Specialist will provide advice and counsel to faculty, supervisor and managers and employees. We are seeking a highly skilled, well-experienced HR professional for the position. Duties will include handling all facets of employee and labor relations, including interpreting and providing advice and counsel regarding university policies, union contracts, and applicable employment laws and regulations; investigating and resolving employment disputes; providing guidance regarding layoffs, terminations, and corrective action; designing and delivering training for employees, supervisors, managers, and local human resources staff pertaining to employee relations and related compliance; as well as keeping abreast of changes in applicable policies, contracts, laws and regulations. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):Bachelor's degree in human resources management, labor law, organizational behavior or other related field and five years of relevant analytical experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):â˘Knowledge of employee and labor relations, the National Labor Relations Act, and state and federal employment regulations and case lawâ˘Demonstrated ability to think critically, research, analyze, and consolidate complex information into policy, position papers, and/or investigation/grievance reports, and to administer collective bargaining agreements and/or human resources policies â˘Experience with problem-solvingâ˘Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with Stanford colleagues and clients, and with external organizations, and to handle conflict situations calmly, professionally, and analyticallyâ˘Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team-based environmentâ˘Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills. Must have excellent presentation skills.
