The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension maintains a full spectrum of clinical services, including management of acute and chronic renal failure, renal transplantation, and hypertension. The division has extensive experience in hemodialysis, all forms of peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, plasmapheresis (including immunoabsorption), renal biopsy, and immunosuppression management. Job Duties :
The division maintains several chronic dialysis units, one on the East Carolina University School of Medicine campus, and others off campus. In addition, the University maintains an active renal transplant program performing approximately 100 transplants per year.
The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the ECU Nephrology Clinic held in the ECU School of Medicine Dialysis Center. This position is responsible for maintaining patient flow, performing patient work-up, assisting health care providers with clinic procedures, administering medications, and performing basic laboratory tests. Minimum Education/Experience:
This employee will maintain patient flow, perform patient work-up, assist health care providers with clinic procedures, administer medications, and perform basic laboratory tests which includes phlebotomy, lab specimen collection and preparation and performance of waived laboratory tests (urine dipstick and finger stick blood glucose).

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Requires certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or, requires successful completion of the requirements from an accredited medical assisting program that permit eligibility to sit for national exam.License or Certification required by statute or regulation:
