Lab Assistant expected to perform genetic experiments, dissections, microscopy, make fly food, and take care of animals for Dr. Olesnicky Killian's sponsored research on both her R03 and R15 awards.

Job Duties:

  • Microdissection
  • Drosophila husbandry
  • Making fly food
  • Microscopy
  • Job Competencies:

  • Understanding of basic genetics
  • Familiarity with laboratory research
  • Knowledge of safety 1-2 years of experience working in a lab setting of hazardous materials
  • This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    What We Offer:

    Salary Range: Generally starting at $37,728 - $41,374

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    This position is dependent on the availability of external gift funding. Funding is currently expected to last until 3/31/2022.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Requirements:

    BA/BS, in related field 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1-2 years of experience working in a lab setting 

    Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move.  Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
