Assistant Director - Center for Behavioral Health ResearchRegular, Full-time, Market Range 10The Project Director (PD) for the "Mapping the Landscape for Mental Health Services in K-12 schools" will assist the Principal Investigator and research teams in ensuring the achievement of all program goals. Primary responsibilities include managing the day to day operations, ensuring compliance with The University of Tennessee (UT) policies and procedures regarding the budget and personnel. The Project Director is supervised by the PI and will work with the PI to assign and supervise the work of the teams of Graduate/Undergraduate Research Assistants. PD will also work with the Administrative Assistant to ensure all personnel hiring needs have been met and with the training manager to ensure all personnel have been trained appropriately. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Director will assist with planning and efforts for outreach to and engagement of key stakeholders, reporting, coordination, implementation, execution, evaluation, and completion of all deliverables to TDOE.
- Manage day to day operations of the project.
- Because this project is being conducted by both the College of Social Work and the College of Education Health and Human Sciences the PD will be required to collaborate across colleges and with various state agencies and with school districts across Tennessee. This responsibility helps the Director to build and maintain effective working relationships, ensuring mission success.
- They will need to ensure program sustainability; the Project Director is responsible for facilitating capacity building and providing strategic program direction. Leadership and management skills are required to enable the success of the project.
- The Project Director helps the PI and Co-PI to effectively manage the multiple aspects of this complex project that involves outreach and data collection from key stakeholders in all school districts across the state.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counselor Education, or related fieldEXPERIENCE: 3+ years of experience working on interdisciplinary research projects, producing professional presentations and/or publications (e.g., professional journals), conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses for research projects, supervising individuals and/or groups. Preferred experience working on interdisciplinary research projects, producing professional presentations and/or publications (e.g., professional journals), conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses for research projects, supervising individuals and/or groups. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the following:
- Knowledge of School Mental Health services provided in K-12 schools in TN
- Knowledge of community social services contracted to assist schools meet mental health needs of students and staff.
- Knowledge of the Tennessee Department of Education comprehensive mental health plan.
- Knowledge of basic Statistical (quantitative analysis) processing in SPSS
- Knowledge of qualitative data analysis in commonly used qualitative data analysis package (e.g., NVIVO)
- Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making.
- Demonstrated skills in leading or working with interdisciplinary and interprofessional teams
