This position will assist in the production of ESPN/SEC Network digital and/or linear events with a variety of duties related to production of live sporting events on the University of Tennessee campus.  The University of Tennessee's multi-year partnership is a critical revenue stream for Tennessee Athletics. This person must ensure that UT Athletics is adhering to the ESPN Standard of video production and is required to have a higher level of production experience for live sporting events. The nature of live sporting events requires a very flexible schedule including evening, weekend and some holiday work.  


Duties and Responsibilities:

    Various assigned production duties as related to SEC Network productions including but not limited to: producing, directing, replay, and technical directing. This role exists to support the two Coordinator I positions who are assigned to duties with the ESPN/SEC Network. This person will research and implement best practices related to the SEC Network standard of production. Aid in the pre-production, direction, and execution of all creative elements as it pertains to in-game content and storylines.  Will be a liaison to ESPN and the SEC Network especially as it relates to various conference calls with the networkPrincipal Producer/Director for pass-through level productions which are streamed on the SEC Network. Pass-through events do not meet the ESPN/SEC Network production standard but are equally visible to viewers. Productions require best practices implemented while offsetting a lesser availability of production resources including equipment and labor. This position will serve as Producer/Director for select linear & digital broadcasts. Serves as primary liaison for all press conferences and facilitates technical setup for all live streamed events across Tennessee’s various social media platforms. Aids in the recruitment and crewing of production staff for all events on both digital and linear platforms. This person will participate in the performance evaluation of student and freelance employees as well as recruit workers who can assist in these productions. Assists in the management and organization of game footage, edit reels, specialty elements, and other relevant assets to the ESPN brand and the University of Tennessee.  Assist in coordinating the transport of assets, both electronically and physically, between other conference institutions as well as ESPN.Other duties as assigned.







Required Qualifications:


Associate’s degree required/Bachelor’s degree preferred in broadcasting, television/video production, communications, or related creative field.



Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of live sports event production required. A successful candidate will have at least 1 year experience with replay and graphic systems used in live sports and at least 1 year experience with production truck from Blue Frame Technologies.

A preferred candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in the field of live sports production with experience in various roles within a control room or production truck.


  • Demonstrated ability in live sports production. Must skilled in the roles of Producer and Director. Must have worked with Blue Frame Technologies Production Truck software. Must have knowledge of Ross Video equipment including the Acuity Switcher and Xpressions graphics as well as Evertz Dream Catcher replay system and Dante networks. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and solve problems quickly.
  • Preferred knowledge of the ESPN/SEC Network minimum standard for digital tier events. The skill of technical producing or directing is preferred. Previous mentoring and supervision of college students is preferred as well.
