Electrician II, Fs Construction Services

Regular, Full-time - MR06

The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all campus facilities which includes buildings, grounds, and utility systems.  The Electrician installs, operates, and maintains electrical systems and equipment for the UT Knoxville Campus.  He also works as necessary to provide assistance to contractors and other crafts.  The electrician also trains craft assistants as needed. This position provides good customer service to internal and external customers. The Electrician will support electrical needs for events and special occasions.

Duties, skills and abilities;

Under supervision performs general electrical work on electrical systems, facilities, appliances, and related electronic controls according to the National Electrical Code. Applicant for this position should have a good working knowledge of electrical systems.  The ability to read blueprints and choose materials, and be able to work on live electrical components when necessary.  The applicant should have the ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, under adverse conditions, and in high places.  The ability to perform hard physical work for long periods, have good hand and eye coordination.  Applicant should also have mechanical aptitude and good knowledge of industrial electricity.

Some of the duties include pulling wire and making up panel boards and other electrical equipment.  Bending, threading, and installing conduit as necessary.  Maintains lighting systems and controls of various types.  Maintain panel boards and switchboards of various types and sizes.  Maintains transformers, motors, and generators. Performs troubleshooting of Electrical and Life Safety Systems.



Qualifications
Minimum/Required Qualifications:

Valid Tennessee Driver’s License

High School Education

Four (4) + years of experience or equivalent in the field to include completion of trade school or apprenticeship.
