Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field. Experience in student organization advising, at a minimum of two years. Experience developing and coordinating orientation and/or extended orientation programming. Experience developing and coordinating programs specific to non-traditional students. Experience developing programs with academic stakeholders. Experience with individual or organization conduct investigations.Job Description:
The student development specialist II serves as a team member of Student Involvement to build, support, and sustain a campus-wide culture that centers student involvement and engagement for the student community. Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing extended orientation, transition, and student success initiatives for new and returning students and non-traditional students; integrating the academic and co-curricular process. Job Duties:
Extended Orientation Planning and Implementation Additional Information to Applicants:
Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of Bobcat Preview, extended orientation program for new and transfer students. Work collaboratively with university stakeholders across academic and student services units to create a holistic educational and transition experience. Assess program effectiveness. Maintain compliance to budgetary policies & procedures.
Student organization advising and development
Serve as advisor for Bobcat Preview – develop, train, and supervise student officers and student staff. Serve as advisor for Non-Traditional Student Organization (NTSO) – develop, train, supervise, student officers and student staff. Non-traditional student programming
Responsible for planning and developing programs and services for non-traditional student population. Budget Management Manage fee budgets and endowed scholarship. Ensure fiscal responsibility, effective planning, effective use of resources, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures. Create end-of-year reports for assigned functional area. Supervision Responsible for the supervision, coaching, and performance management of one graduate assistant. Expressive Activity and Demonstrations Serve as a member of the team addressing elevated demonstrations on campus. Assist with oversight of small-scale campus expressive activity.
Student Organization Conduct
Serve as an organization conduct investigator, as needed.
