Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
Knowledge of the field of librarianship including MARC records and cataloging practices. Knowledge of integrated library system management • knowledge of electronic resource management systems.
Knowledge of client/server networking concepts including firewalls and VPNs.
Knowledge of HTML and JavaScript and the ability to create basic marked up pages for the web. Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a team member.
Ability to compile statistics and create reports.
Ability to give presentations and provide training.
Project/process management.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Oral and written communication

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of RFID and self-checkout systems.
Knowledge of SharePoint, Libguides and Canvas.
Knowledge of next generation Library Services Platforms (LSP) such as Folio and Alma.
Experience managing the Sierra Integrated Library System.
Knowledge of the use of RDBMS and SQL.

Job Description:

The Albert B. Alkek Library at Texas State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library System Coordinator. Reporting to the Head of the Digital and Web Services Department, this position will coordinate activities and resources to ensure the reliable operation and integrity of the Sierra Integrated Library System and provide leadership in technology planning and analysis. This will include working and coordinating resources with university technology staff for system level management, the Office of Information Security, Innovative Interfaces technical support personnel, and University librarians. This position will also take a lead role in analyzing next generation library systems, including leading teams in planning, selection, and implementation of a replacement library system.

Job Duties:

Coordinate the management and operation of the Sierra integrated library system with university personnel, the system vendor, library staff, and patrons, and coordinate the operation of related services such as patron update, holds management and purchase order export. Coordinate integration of the library systems with 3rd party software for the off-site repository. Coordinate management of RFID systems, including self-check stations, security gates, their software, and integration with the library system. Maintain the integrity of the library catalog database by identifying problem records, running reports of those records, and updating the records as needed in consultation with appropriate unit staff. Evaluate functionality/modules available for the library system which are not currently used, or which could be used more effectively, prepare proposals for appropriate staff, and implement if approved. Interface with library staff to identify needs related to the library system and develop solutions. Provide training as needed. Provide leadership and coordination for analysis, selection, and implementation of a new library services platform (LSP). Work with public service staff to develop and maintain effective online catalog public interface. Create and run custom reports (Create List/Excel or SQL), compile statistics and prepare annual report tables.
