Job Information Job ID: 229813Position #: 20009263 Georgia Cancer Center, Augusta University, GA, USAThe Georgia Cancer Center and the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University are seeking full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank with main interest in health psychology and psycho-oncology. The top candidate will have the opportunity to join a growing and dynamic team comprised of psychologists, social work, dieticians, and pastoral care. The individual will also work in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment teams (medical, radiation, & surgical oncology) to support patients, their caregivers, and providers across the cancer journey, from diagnosis through survivorship or end of life.Responsibilities
  • The top candidate will facilitate the development of programs and pathways to deliver consultations, assessments, and interventions.
  • The provider will conduct inpatient and outpatient pre-surgical/pre-transplant evaluations, provide inpatient consultative services for patients, and manage a caseload of psychotherapy patients with hematologic/oncologic malignancies and co-occurring psychiatric and adjustment-related concerns.
  • Opportunities to specialize in areas of clinical interest is available.
  • Lastly, the position will also provide teaching to medical students, psychology interns/fellows, and hem/onc fellows as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Doctor of Psychology or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical counseling psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship in a hospital/medical setting.
  • Focused training in Clinical Health Psychology.
  • One or two years experience in counseling.
  • GA Psychology license and DEA
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in psycho-social oncology and counseling cancer patients.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality.Connect with people and earn patients' trust and confidence.Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Counseling cancer patients, social work, computer tech savvy and etc.Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.Shift/Salary Academic rank, tenure status and salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.Conditions of Employment All candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review.
