The Director of Grants and Contracts Pre-Award Administration reports to theVice President for Research and oversees all aspects of pre-award grants andcontract research administration. The Director works with faculty andstaff to develop proposals, submit projects to sponsors, and track and routedocuments in the electronic research administration system. This positionworks closely with the post award team to transition funded projects over to anaward. In support of the Office of Research, this position oversees thedevelopment and operation of all internally funded research projects, startupfunds, and other internally funded projects. Position Qualifications: Required:
-Bachelor's degree in related field
-Five (5) years of pre-award/departmental research administration experience,and management of accounting/fiscal activities of a business or governmentalprogram.
-A leader with a demonstrated track record of success in supporting researchersin higher education with an understanding of the research process.Skills, Proficiencies,and Knowledge:
Strong management and leadership skills and the ability to work collaborativelyand independently. Superior organizational skills and the ability tomanage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines. Anindividual with a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving. Theability to build and motivate interdisciplinary teams of researchers andstaff. Superb written and verbal communication skills, including publicspeaking skills. Extensive understanding of federal and state rules,regulations, policies, and procedures as well as the ability to interpret thoseof other sponsoring agencies. Experience in public and private grants andcontract development and acquisition. Ability to develop, plan, andimplement short- and long-term goals. Strong strategic planning skillsand the ability to effectively allocate limited resources to appropriatepriorities.Preferred:
-A Master’s degree in a related field
-CRA (Certified Research Administrator) certification.
-Experience implementing and managing Banner Finance.
