Job Description The Undergraduate Research (UR) Assistant Director (URAD) will be responsible for managing daily operations to ensure the success of critical UR programs, including SEARCH, SUROP, and Annual Symposium of UR, URD@C, and the Undergrad. Research Associates. This includes promoting UR programs across campus and through social media, overseeing application and review processes for student grants, maintaining the UR Web site, and coordinating with units across campus, including conference services, Alumni relations, Registrar and Financial Aid, IT services, Academic Advising and Student Success/UCollege, MComm, and academic units. The URAD will also work with the director of UR on strategic planning in accordance with UMKC's priorities and coordinate with the part-time Admin Assistant for UR to ensure the office's smooth operation. The asst director will also serve as a resource for 20 or more Undergrad Research Associates who are delegated to work with faculty mentors across campus. The URAD will also supervise 5-6 UR student ambassadors.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Manage SEARCH and SUROP--recruit students, publicize, oversee application & review process, monitor student expenditures, ensure assessment procedures are completedPlan and execute annual symposium of undergrad research--arrange space and manage logistics, promote across and beyond campus, create abstract booklet, ensure assessment procedures are completedManage Undergrad Research Associate program. Recruit faculty and students, manage application and hiring processes, serve as a resource for faculty and students, monitor time sheets and compliance with federal work-study rules, troubleshoot problems. Ensure assessment procedures are completedRecruit students for URD@C and manage application process. Coordinate with UM system personnel and plan practice day for student representatives. Chaperon students in Jefferson City on day of eventAssist UR Director in strategic planningManage UR Web site and coordinate needed updates with MCommEdit and publish bi-annual UR newsletter, manage social media accounts, and handle other PR responsibilities for the UR programOther duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated skills in desktop publishing and creating promotional materials as well as managing social media presence. Experience in event planning is also preferred.

Salary

$47,476 - 54,000 commensurate with experience and education
