Should have experience with high output capacity water tubes and low-pressure sectionals and be able to perform a combustion analysis.
Involves expert level of technical knowledge acquired through an apprenticeship, certified training programs, and on the job training.
This position needs an expert level of technical knowledge and skills for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the UGA campus boiler systems. These building boiler systems are various in type, size, and manufacturer involving the individual in this position to have the needed mechanical and technical skills needed for monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing these boilers and their associated equipment. This position is responsible for keeping preventative and corrective maintenance logs, part inventory, and works closely with the State inspector to assure we are staying in compliance. This position will be expected to work independently to complete tasks within this competency and help train others on staff.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
This position has expert level technical knowledge and mechanical skills in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of building boiler systems and their associated equipment. Be able to independently diagnose and solve a wide range of operational issues that arise from the mechanical components and controls of boiler systems including the following:
- Ability to identify and repair components of a Gas System Boiler.
- Ability to identify and repair components of a Steam System Boiler.
- Ability to identify and repair components of Heat Exchanger Systems.
- Skilled in tube replacement and blow downs.
- Understanding of parallel positioning systems and ALC based programs
- Knowledge to troubleshoot and install boiler sensors, boards and relays.
- Knowledge for assisting with commissioning of new building boiler systems.
- Knowledge of pressure controls and experience with flame relays, low waters, air switches, and aqua stats.
- Able to reading and interpret mechanical plans and wiring diagrams.
Is driving a responsibility of this position?:
- Lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and crawling throughout an 8-hour work shift with occasional overhead work and use of a ladder.

Perform regular checks and take corrective action to ensure the building boiler systems and associated equipment are operating per designed requirements. Percentage of time:
Install, maintain, and repair the mechanical components of the building boiler system such as circulator pumps, condensers, burners, heat exchangers, tubes, combustion chamber and exhaust stack. Percentage of time:
Diagnose and solve a wide range of operational issues for maintaining the correct pressure within the operator, modulation, and high limit pressure controls (sensors, boards, starters, relays). Percentage of time:
