Description
Campus Police officers provide a basic police patrol, police protective services, and related police services for students, faculty, and staff of Temple University.  Incumbents ensure peace and order in and around Temple University campuses.  Position responsible for preventing crime by processing information received and taking necessary police action. Incumbents investigate criminal and non-criminal incidents, determine what occurred, identify criminal perpetrators, arrest criminal perpetrators, or act to bring about the arrest of criminal perpetrators.  Position performs uniformed police services at University functions and preventative foot patrol, primarily outdoors, campus grounds and surrounding areas. Requirements include the operation of a police vehicle and/or police bike, occasionally under emergency circumstances, and performing motorized and bike police patrol.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Must be at least 21 years of age. Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.  Have a current MPOETC certification card or be certified under the Municipal Police Officer’s Training Act (Act 120).  Must successfully complete a medical physical, psychological and extensive background investigation.

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills

*A valid Driver's license

*Ability to complete physical requirements of position, including heavy lifting, ability to physically pursue, restrain, and take into custody people suspected of a crime

*Ability to move rapidly up and down stairs while carrying heavy equipment

*Demonstrated ability to recognize, understand, accept and appreciate the value of workplace diversity and respect the practices, values, and points of view of other individuals and groups
