Job Summary: The Student Life Program Manager I provides oversight and planning for the development, implementation, and delivery of one or more programs, services, or activities within a department. May supervise professional staff. Part of the Student Life Career Progression Plan.

Additional Department Summary: Reporting through the Dean of Students Office, this position is responsible for divisional efforts related to mentoring and resiliency; this entails designing curriculum and overseeing the implementation of the Believe UA Mentoring program and the GRIT Resiliency program, to include overall management of the programs and their respective volunteers, mentors, mentees, and staff. This position has specific oversight for developing, planning, and executing the Believe UA mentoring and GRIT resiliency programs; recruiting and registering student mentees to participant in Believe UA and student organizations to participate in GRIT; recruiting, selecting, and training the Believe UA peer mentors and GRIT Resiliency volunteer instructors; and creating and evaluation framework for data-driven decision making. This position is also expected to teach the HES 225: Academic Mentoring seminar course for mentees, advise the Believe UA Advisory Board and Junior Board, hire and supervise three graduate assistants and several undergraduate employees; and develop, monitor, and administer the budget.

Responsible for completing required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace. Responsible for holding staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience; OR Master's degree and one (1) year of experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Thorough knowledge and understanding of student development and student learning theories, to include best practices in the areas of mentoring, learning support, student success, curriculum design, and program assessment/evaluation. Ability to conduct in-person and virtual presentations, training workshops, and student programming, for both small and large audiences. Strong organizational skills and the capacity to simultaneously execute multiple projects and responsibilities. Critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for a diverse population. Strong computer skills, including experience and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, database programs, and online platforms/tools (i.e., Zoom, Qualtrics, etc.). Demonstrated commitment to expand multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through: demonstrating self-awareness; understanding and valuing others; demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with a diversity of people; fostering equity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with program planning, delivery, and evaluation, especially related to peer mentoring and resiliency programs. Experience teaching college-level courses and the capacity to design and develop educational training materials, including curriculum and supporting resources. Ability to lead and train staff, students, and volunteers.

Master's degree in Education, Business Communication, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling or a related field and three (3) years of professional leadership experience in a higher education setting.

Mentoring experience, relationship building, developing sponsorships and partnerships for programs, advancement or alumni experience, staff supervision, and budget management experience.
