Job Summary: The Academic Advisor I is an entry level advising position. Under direct supervision, the Advisor I will be engaged in academic advising activities that support UA at the institution or college level.

Additional Department Summary: The Advisor for EMBA Academic Services will counsel students on their programs of study and course work as well as monitor and manage the academic progress of the students. The Advisor for EMBA Academic Services will be responsible for working with the UA Graduate School in advising, tracking progress, and reporting the students' progress toward degree completion. In addition, the Advisor for EMBA Academic Services will assist in the planning and execution of orientation, student experiential, and professional development events and activities.

The Advisor for EMBA Academic Services must be able to communicate effectively with a
variety of individuals: current and prospective students, alumni, faculty and university administrators. This person must be able to professionally address large audiences as well as to communicate effectively one-on-one. This person must also be able to facilitate small groups and help students develop organizational and leadership skills.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and some experience. Student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered.

Skills and Knowledge: Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills; essential to have the ability to gain support of students, faculty, staff, and administration. Experience in motivating students, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Candidate should also have experience and skills in student advisement, funding and retention, as well as planning, organizing and conducting special events. Candidates must be computer savvy, and have demonstrated proficiency with financial responsibilities for programs, social media, and experience in creating tracking and data reports.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, counseling, or higher education and two (2) years of experience in student services, recruiting, college or university administration.
