Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM to 4:45 pm, limited extended hours

Job Summary: Performs a broad scope of professional accounting activities requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of accounting principles and practices.

Additional Department Summary: The Accountant I partners with the Assistant Director of Finance/Accountant III, Accountant II and the Director of Finance for the College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS), including collaboration with the Medical Billing and Compliance Office, Purchasing, Health IT and others in the enterprise services departments to organize the services that fall under the financial administration umbrella of the College. The Accountant I performs all aspects of accounting and budgeting for CCHS, academic and clinical, Student Health Center (SHC), Brewer-Porch Children’s Center (BPCC), and Capstone Health Services Foundation, d/b/a University Medical Center in multiple locations (CHSF). The position also performs academic, clinical and research data reporting to support the academic, clinical, scholarship and research enterprises and to insure the integrity of the data reporting systems, financial reporting systems and accreditation reporting systems. Responsibilities include all aspects of accounting, and data reporting.

The position handles salary budget processes, departmental budget reports as well as routine monthly, quarterly and annual financial reconciliations and reports preparation. Responsibilities include all aspects of the state budget accounting process, including Banner and Concur review and reporting and assisting with updating, enforcing, and following internal processes, control policies and procedures as directed by college leadership in compliance with UA Academic Affairs and Finance and Operations.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and one (1) year of accounting experience; OR a CPA and some accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications: CPA Preferred. Department will give preference to candidates who have completed the educational requirements to be CPA eligible. Priority will be granted to candidates with advanced expertise in data analytics, including experience with various database systems, mining, reporting, and developing dashboards. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic setting and an environment of constant growth and change. Ability to analyze and interpret complex data; Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports; Ability to monitor and adhere to quality control standards; Ability to work at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions; Ability to cope with stressful conditions; Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability; Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Internships, part time work experience will be considered for experience requirement.
