Job Summary: The Project Administrator is responsible for the operation of a major project(s) or program(s), which could include supervision of personnel, budgeting & accounting, administration of programs & activities, evaluation of personnel & programs and reporting.

Additional Department Summary: The project manager will be in charge of overseeing the implementation of the grant components, overseeing personnel, monitoring budget incoming and outgoing, communicating with the funding agency and ALSDE when needed, inputting results from evaluator and collaborating with other grant staff, overall grant administration and monitoring project completion (compliance) and final reporting. Reviews and analyzes the financial impact of proposed sponsored research tasks. Reviews grant proposal and identifies and resolves
compliance issues related to University and sponsor requirements. Interprets pre-award and post-award university and sponsored guidelines to faculty and staff. Analyzes changes in regulations and their effect on cost reimbursements and financial operations. Develops financial accounting systems to track expenditures for all aspects of the grant. Brings instances of non-compliance to the attention of the administrative personnel. Acts as a liaison with other university departments, community partners, and sponsors of the award. Develops and prepares operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies. Administers policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal and organizational guidelines. Hires, trains and supervises staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
Oversees both the pre-award and post-award activity for various sites within allotted grant funding, works as a member of the senior administrative team in decision making and implementation of grant activities, represents the program in discussions/negotiations with University officials and outside agencies, manages budgeting and negotiation with the administrative team.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher and five (5) years of experience in proposal development, grant/contract administration, research project development administration, or project management.

Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational skills as evidenced by work history. Able to work independently using sound judgment and solid decision-making skills to solve problems and to work through barriers that may impact progress. Program evaluation or applied research expertise. Experience with basic office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and ten years of experience in proposal/contract/research project development administration; Previous experience managing grants pre-award and post-award. Experience preparing grant budgets and grant reports. Experience in collaborating with funding agencies, education leaders, and University staff and faculty.
