University Centers and Events (UCE), provides quality programs, services, and facilities that enhance the educational experience and create a community for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. We assist students to become good citizens of a global community prepared to function in a diverse world.
The University Union serves a diverse population with unique needs, offers a variety of programs and services, and employs a staff dedicated to creating a climate of comfort and community. The University Program Council (UPC) is UNT’s student-run programming board. UPC is devoted to planning events for the students that are educational, social, cultural or recreational. UPC plans everything from movie screenings to major concerts. UPC is unique in that it is a departmental student organization. UPC is comprised of committees – headed by students – which range in categories. UPC is a great way for students to gain professional experience in a fun and fast-paced environment.

Position Overview:

The purpose of the Student Services Coordinator for the University Program Council is to assist with the supervision of the University Program Council (UPC) student programming board. The Student Services Coordinator will supervise a Graduate Assistant and various student staff that serve on the programming board. UPC programs are selected and supported by various part-time student staff and a general committee of students on a semester basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
• Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
• Experience in networking across departments and programs.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
• Some experience in customer service is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with a student programming board.

Work Schedule:

M-F, 8am-5pm. Evenings and weekends as determined by event schedule.

o:

Monitor and supervise student programming board on contracting, marketing, logistical coordination, training, and assessment of the events/activities planned. Will work closely with the Assistant Director of UPC to oversee all UPC events, meetings, and activities.

o:

Supervise Graduate Assistant(s) with various responsibilities and implements policies and procedures in regards to Graduate Assistant program.

o:

Responsible for event oversight including purchasing needs with various vendors/artists, on-site staff member during events, and works closely with Conference & Event Services to plan events.

o:

Assist with coordination of marketing strategies for event and organization promotion.

o:

Monitor UPC programming budget. Assist with the development of UPC budget and planning.

o:

Assist Assistant Director with hiring, retention, training, scheduling, and supervision of the student programming board workforce in a manner that is equitable, cost-effective, and aligned with departmental guidelines.

o:

Identify, measure, and manage risks as related to programming efforts. Develop necessary plans and implement risk solutions as appropriate.

o:

Conducts various assessment strategies to ensure programs and activities implemented are effective.
