Job Description

Health, Counseling, and Disability Access Services are seeking an experienced and skilled therapist and outreach coordinator able to work with a diverse clinical population with a wide range of needs, as well as to support our efforts to enhance and promote our services to serve all students.

We are seeking an experienced therapist to provide initial assessments; individual and group counseling/therapy; crisis intervention; consultation; outreach and psycho-educational programming; and supervision of clinical graduate interns.

We are seeking a professional who is committed to the work of university counseling centers and who wishes to join a dynamic staff seeking ways to better meet the mental health needs of the campus population. Cultural competence is of utmost importance. The successful candidate will value a multifaceted approach involving strongly linked clinical and training efforts, consultation with the campus, and mental health prevention/early intervention. We seek individuals who are collaborative in nature, have strong communication skills, practice good self-care, maintain healthy boundaries, and possess the ability to manage the workload while promoting a positive atmosphere and healthy relationships.

Outreach Coordinator duties will include:

  • coordination of training and education to the campus community on mental health issues and topics: suicide prevention, substance abuse awareness, eating disorder awareness, interpersonal violence prevention, and sexual assault prevention;
  • there is also an emphasis on connecting with students on campus to promote Counseling Services as a relevant and beneficial resource to all students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology or Social Work is necessary.

  • The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure in the State of Missouri within 12 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competence working with a culturally diverse population.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering psychoeducational and mental health related training and education programs.

  • Post-degree experience in counseling is strongly preferred.

  • University counseling center experience and Missouri licensure eligibility are highly desirable.

  • Other desirable skills include: interest and experience in utilizing a brief therapy model, group therapy, crisis intervention, hospitalization experience and work with more complex cases.
