JOB SUMMARY:

As the senior physician in the medical center, is responsible for providing effective leadership and expertise and for fostering shared governance of all matters pertaining to service quality, clinical outcomes, patient safety and satisfaction, and for strategic initiates and programs for enhancing clinical effectiveness. Works closely with medical center and school of medicine leadership in achieving high satisfaction from patients and referring physicians; ensuring patient safety and high quality, cost-effective patient care; establishing and monitoring measures to ensure excellence in clinical care; and for advancing best practices in clinical care, quality and safety. REQUIRED:

  • Comprehensive and thorough understanding of all elements of healthcare delivery including strategy, business planning, operations and financial management
  • Demonstrated leadership track record that shows an ability to gain credibility to influence and achieve with and without direct authority and to work collaboratively with clinical chairs, the medical staff and the executive ream
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • MD degree with significant practice experience in a board-certified specialty
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate for the job
  • Must possess the skills, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Seven to ten years of increasingly responsible experience in healthcare including at least five years of leadership experience in an academic medical setting
