Head Softball Coach (Contractual/Part-Time)

Reports To and Evaluated by:

Athletic Director

Required Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Baccalaureate Degree. Two years of experience as a college or high school girls’ varsity softball coach. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility, initiative and sound judgment. Planning and leadership skills and detail oriented. Ability and commitment to recruit instruct and motivate college student’s athletes. A positive role model for young adults. Ability to work with a diverse student population in a multicultural environment. All coaches must be certified in CPR/AED and their certification must be on file in the Athletic Department.

Must be able to demonstrate the Morton College core values of compassion, fairness, respect, responsibility, tolerance and truth.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years of coaching softball at the college level. Experience as a college or high school softball player. Master’s Degree preferred.

Job Summary:

Plan, organize and direct a program to recruit student athletes to participate in softball. Perform on field coaching and instruction. Other duties include scouting, maintaining statistics and performing tasks required to insure a competitive intercollegiate softball program.

Specific Job Duties:

• Maintain a high level of individual and team discipline
• Recruit student athletes to play college softball
• Teach, coach and instruct fundamental and advanced skills
• Maintain team and individual statistics
• Assist with maintenance of equipment
• Identify four-year colleges or universities for softball players to transfer to
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
