The University of Colorado Colorado Springs is seeking applications for a part time PRN Family Nurse Practitioner to work in a nurse managed clinic at the UCCS Health Circle Primary Care Clinic in the Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences. The NP will be providing healthcare services to UCCS employees and patients with participating health insurance. The NP is responsible for providing primary health care to patients in the UCCS Health Circle Primary Care Clinic, directed by the NP scope of practice, clinic policies, and procedures.Evaluates and treats acute and chronic problems for the pediatric to the geriatric population.Works with the Medical Assistants to provide care to patients.Collaborates and communicates with other health care providers to ensure optimal patient care.The NP assists the Office Manager and the Clinical Lead NP with other duties as assigned.Particiaptes in the after-hours call on a rotating basis. Job Competencies:Extensive clinical knowledge to provide primary care services to various chronic and acute patients without consulting a physician or specialist.Completes patient histories, physical examinations, and thorough assessments on all patients with appropriate documentation reflected in the medical record.Able to differentiate patient care situations that require acute and non-acute action and respond accordingly.Able to communicate effectively with patients, clinic students, staff, outside specialists, and agencies to ensure specific patient needs are met.Discusses and promotes mind, body, and spirit wellness concepts for all patients.Triages walk-in urgent health care situations and coordinates with emergency medical responders for safe transport to local emergency rooms if deemed necessary.Refers patients requiring care beyond the scope of the NP's practice to other appropriate providers.Collaborates and communicates effectively with the clinic staff, students, and community providers to meet the patients' needs being served by the clinic.Provides care to individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.Working knowledge of appropriate billing/coding and HIPAA compliance issues.Participates in after-hours calls.Other duties as assigned.
This position has been determined to be eligible for overtime (non-exempt) under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). What We Offer:

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Master's degree in Nursing with specialty certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by a national certification agency.Current unencumbered Colorado RN licensure and placement on the Advanced Practice Nurse Registry with full prescriptive authority.Current DEA license and CPR certification.
Three years of experience in an outpatient clinical setting as an NP. Preferred Requirements:Five or more years of expereince in an outpatient clinical setting as an NP.
Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills.
