Special Assistant to the Dean of Admissions - Georgetown University Law Center

The Special Assistant supports the Dean of Admissions; oversees the special events for JD admitted students and prospective students, as well as the JD student ambassador program; and serves as the Financial Manager for the Office of Admissions. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, and working closely with the Dean of Admissions, the Special Assistant has a role that directly impacts the image of the Law Center to both prospective and admitted applicants. Duties include but are not limited to:

Special Assistant to the Dean
  • Manage the Dean's calendar
  • Make travel arrangements including flight, train, car, and hotel reservations - and modify and cancel, based on Dean's rapidly changing schedule
  • Assist with phone, mail, and mail correspondence, and correspond on Dean's behalf when required
  • Coordinate meetings, appointments, and Dean's attendance at conferences and special events
  • Assist with Dean's Early Outreach Initiative to reach high school students

JD Special Events and Communications

Plan and manage the following events, and provide administrative support on behalf of the Admissions Office for various fundraising events organized by other offices:
  • JD admitted student events at Georgetown Law and in cities across the United States
  • JD Open Houses

JD Student Ambassador Program
  • Recruit first year law students to participate in the Student Ambassador program
  • Train Student Ambassadors on tours and admitted student interactions
  • Schedule and run regular meetings with Student Ambassadors
  • Recruit Student Ambassadors to assist with special events and JD recruitment as needed

Financial Affairs
  • Provide support to the Dean, Assistant Dean, Director, Associate Director with Financial Affairs, including Procurement Card paperwork and expense reporting
  • Manage and maintain Admissions operating budget via monthly checks
  • Complete supply requisitions according to University policy and procedure as needed
  • Submit for reimbursements as needed

Administrative Support
  • Complete miscellaneous tasks to be assigned by the Dean, Assistant Dean, or Director
  • Participate in rotating coverage of the Front Desk (rotation)
  • Order and organize supply of GULC items for admitted students
  • Order and manage office supplies
  • Manage the office calendar
  • Organize staff meetings and other events

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 1 year of relevant administrative experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new databases and technology
  • Advanced administrative and organizational skills - very particularly for data and communications special events success
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Customer service and detail orientation
