Return-to-Campus Specialized Support Coordinator is responsible for providing Student Health & Wellness Services' support for our Return-to-Campus program. The position requires independently performing administrative and technical functions to ensure compliance with the federal, state, local, and campus COVID-19 guidelines. This is a temporary, short-term hourly position from July 2021 through December 2021 under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Student Health & Wellness.

Distinguishing Career Features
Candidates must be comfortable with wearing campus provided personal protective equipment (PPE), assisting with COVID-19 student and visitor prescreen wellness questionnaires, and case tracking in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Must be organized and adept in managing challenges and/or conflicts, as well as demonstrating excellent intrapersonal communication and customer service skills. Previous COVID-19 prescreening assistance, public service, and/or administrative and supervisory experience preferred.

Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend and pass PPE and cleaning/disinfecting methods competency trainings at the college.
  • Attend and pass self-administration COVID-19 nasal testing training provided on-line by the California Valencia Branch Laboratory.
  • Attend and pass the contact tracing on-line training course offered by Johns Hopkins University.
  • Regularly attend COVID-19 telebriefing updates.
  • Update training manuals and train kiosk attendants.
  • Prepare weekly kiosk attendant, and testing site schedules, and oversee staffing changes.
  • Track and communicate inventory needs, including PPE, testing kits, and registration materials.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical difficulties with prescreening questionnaire software programs.
  • Maintain backup after business hours verbal prescreening written logs compliance with HIPAA.
  • Alert facilities for appropriate cleaning and community notices of rooms/spaces in the event of COVID-19 positive cases and/or occupied by someone with symptoms.
  • Assist Student Health Services with reporting incidents of acute illness on campus.
  • Assist with monitoring and tracking in-person attendance and seating arrangements to facilitate contact tracing in the event of an exposure, if requested.
  • Assist with providing logs to Student Health Services and/or the Public Health Department in the event of exposure and subsequent contact tracing.
  • Assist with testing site set-up/breakdown stations in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Ensure all standard supplies are properly set-up/stored, including testing kits, PPE, registration materials, & technology equipment.
  • Direct kiosk and testing foot traffic in compliance with all COVID-19 safety requirements, including social-distancing of six (6) feet and verifying students, visitors and staff are wearing masks.
  • Provide students, visitors and staff with directions to proceed with entry or exit campus according to protocol.
  • Answer generalized students, visitors and staff questions or issues about prescreening wellness questionnaires, testing options, reporting symptoms/suspected exposures.
  • Guide students to appropriate department for accommodations.
  • Assist Student Health Services staff with confirming pre-registered information and appointments for accuracy, as assigned.
  • Register or assist patients with testing self-registration.
  • Monitor client self-administration COVID-19 nasal tests. Assist with troubleshooting of testing difficulties.
  • Prepare samples for storage, packaging and batch shipping to the Valencia Branch Laboratory in a secure, designated location, as assigned.
  • Ensure COVID-19 nasal testing staff is supported by verifying necessary materials are at each station, scheduling breaks, and managing client conflicts or issues that may arise.
  • Communicate with classified staff and management on duty of any concerning behaviors regarding District protocols/procedures.
  • Maintain open communication with classified staff and management on duty to promote problem solving program regulations.
  • Attend weekly meetings with Associate Dean of Student Health Services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge and Skills
  • Advise, educate and counsel the campus community on COVID-19 Return-to Campus guidelines, as applicable.
  • Ensure COVID-19 self-administered testing in a high quality and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate ability to correctly don/doff PPE, clean/disinfect testing sites, prepare samples for collection, storage, and shipment, and accurately document information.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic background of the student, community, and employee population.

  • Physical Abilities
  • Requires the ability to function effectively outdoors and follow public health etiquette and campus practices, such as social distancing of six (6) feet, frequent handwashing, and wearing PPE. Position involves light to medium walking, standing, stooping carrying and lifting of light weight materials (under 25 pounds). Requires visual acuity to read numbers, letters, and images. Requires hand and finger dexterity to use a computer or tablet. Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficient to carry on routine conversations.

  • Licenses and Certificates
    First Aid certification preferred, but not required.

    Working Conditions
    Work is performed primarily outdoors where minimal safety considerations exist.

    Conditions of Employment:

    These positions are temporary short-term, not to exceed 25 hours/week, 950 hours/year, and 175 days/year. Assignments are based on District needs.
    There are two shifts: 6:30 am - 3:00 p.m. and 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm

    Individual who is offered employment shall be required to obtain fingerprints for a criminal history clearance through the State Department of Justice, produce an original social security card, and submit negative TB test results (must be within the past four years or within the last 60 days if not previously employed in a school district in California) before employment.

    Proof of eligibility to work in the United States and signing of loyalty oath per Government Codes 3100-310

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
  • The position requires a minimum of Bachelor's degree in health sciences, public relations, risk management, or administration, or related field.
  • Experience working in an academic sector preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required.
