Job Description Summary
This part-time temporary position requires staffing our hospital client service area. It requires providing excellent customer service to clients who bring their pets to Penn Vet for treatment. It involves registering patients, discharging patients, posting charges, accepting payments, answering phones for Patient Information and ES calls, filing, and using Cureatr. This position requires strong customer service skills, being able to communicate effectively with clients, clinicians, and staff. This position is an essential personnel position and working an alternate schedule will be required.

Job Description

Responsibilities for this part-time temporary position include:
  • Call for a triage when clients come into ES with an emergency. Process all intake paperwork, discharge paperwork, and manage the client/doctor interactions. Check Clients in and out of appointments. Print discharges for inpatients being discharged.
  • Answer the ES phone lines and assist clients with determining if they need to come into ES. Transfer calls from referring veterinarians to the ES doctors. Advise when to call Poison Control. Answer Patient Information Calls and contact the doctors for updates.
  • Monitor and maintain the transfer board. Work with Medical Records to make sure the ES charts get added to the medical record.
  • Makes copies, send faxes, keep all forms stocked.
  • Admit all A.M. admits to the hospital that will be transferred to other services.


Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or GED and 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Previous receptionist experience is preferred as well as the ability to handle a very busy Emergency Room and clinic appointments. Seeking part-time temporary candidates who will work collegially with everyone within the department including doctors, students, and staff. Alternative work schedule required - some night and weekend hours are required. This position is an essential personnel position.
