Description
Responsibilities:
As a staff member of the Student Success department, this position will facilitate student success for students in the School of Social Sciences.
Collaborates with Student Success and college/program leadership to provide comprehensive academic advising services to assigned student populations within the assigned school. This includes, but is not limited to, course scheduling, assisting students in the exploration of life goals, the exploration of vocational goals, and choosing a program of study. Provides leadership to students in navigating academic issues through the use of UMHB's student success platform and coordinated care units, and serves as the early academic alert point person within the assigned school. Collaborates with the Director of Student Success and college leadership to identify, create, and monitor retention strategies for struggling student populations identified within the assigned school.
Minimum Requirements: 1. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required, with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or greater.
2. Selection and assignment may be made, in part, based on degree compatibility with assigned college.
3. A minimum of two (2) years' full-time post-degree employment experience is required in either:
a. teaching or mentoring high school or college students OR
b. working in a field associated with the college of assignment.
4. UMHB alumni status is preferred.
5. Experience in an institution of higher education is strongly preferred.
6. Basic competency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required.
7. Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required.
8. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
