Supervision Received: The Senior Annual Giving Coordinator reports to the Major Gifts Officer
Supervision Exercised: The Senior Annual Giving Coordinator supervises student employees and volunteers.
Salary: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 (Salary will commensurate with education and experience)

General Statement of Duties:

The purpose of this position is to increase philanthropic resources across all programs and operating units of Westfield State University. The Senior Annual Giving Coordinator provides leadership in designing, implementing, and evaluating the annual fund program, which builds a long-term base of support for WSU. In collaboration with the University Advancement team, the Senior Annual Giving Coordinator develops and implements strategies that include creative direct and electronic mail, as well as deployment of new technologies in annual giving (social media, etc.). This work also requires close collaboration with faculty, staff, and volunteers on various special initiatives to increase annual gifts from alumni, friends and corporations through identification, cultivation, and solicitation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential:
  • The Senior Annual Giving Coordinator is responsible for annual giving programs and the initiation of reunion giving, as well as setting annual dollar/donor goals, establishing strategies to reach those goals, and monitoring progress.
  • This individual will devise and implement a comprehensive, year-long annual giving solicitation strategy, including direct mail, e-mail, text, and volunteer engagement to solicit alumni, parents, families, friends, faculty, staff and retirees. This includes developing themes, creating collateral for such, as well as acknowledgement letters for the annual solicitation program. The Senior Annual Giving Coordinator will supervise outreach working with other staff, interns and work-study students as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement a written master plan and calendar for annual giving and share with Advancement team regularly.
  • Coordinate an outreach program and work with others on the Advancement team to effectively integrate telemarketing, social media and direct mail with the goal of increasing alumni engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Alumni Office staff, to direct and implement the giving solicitation strategy for alumni with a particular focus on younger alumni, while seeking opportunities to increase student philanthropy.
  • Participate in planning meetings, accepting special assignments, assisting colleagues and providing support for all ongoing programs and operations as needed. Work with Alumni team to highlight impact of Annual Fund in e-newsletters and Focus magazine.
  • Works as part of the Advancement team to staff events, meetings and related activities.
  • Perform other related duties assigned.



Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of three years of experience in fundraising, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, social media skills, and excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Familiarity and dexterity managing multiple software platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate (volunteer and student) workers.
  • Flexibility with schedule, and willingness to work weekends and nights as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with computerized information systems, including Raiser's Edge (strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency with databases and spreadsheets, and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with required deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and take the lead on certain projects.



Additional Information:

Salary:
For the majority of new employees, the minimum starting salary will apply. Specific salary for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining and state policies and procedures.
