UXL Manager, Center for Information and Communication Studies

Regular, Full-time - MR08

WHO WE ARE

The User eXperience Lab (UXL) at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and offers a full range of UX research services for university, government, and private organizations. The UXL provides the expertise and tools to examine how people interact with technology and guidance on what can be done to improve those interactions.

UXL LAB MANAGER

The UT UXL Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing management and development of the UT User eXperience Lab (UXL) and Message Effects Lab. They will play a pivotal role in the coordination of activities in the Lab and conducting qualitative and quantitative user research studies using a variety of research methods in the lab, remotely, and in the field. The UXL is a fee-for-service facility and as such, a primary responsibility for this position is to proactively identify, incubate, and accelerate new business opportunities. This FT position is based at the UT Knoxville campus and could require occasional travel.

 

TASKS WILL INCLUDE

  • Building and nurturing partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitating client meetings, workshops, and other collaborative working sessions
  • Facilitating internal process development efforts
  • Supporting business development efforts with documentation, scoping, and pitching
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative user research studies using a variety of research methods in the lab, remotely, and in the field
  • Training faculty, staff, and students on the lab equipment
  • Maintaining lab equipment
  • Managing lab schedules
  • Providing tours of the lab(s) for visitors, current students, and future students
  • Collaborating and interacting with CICS team activities

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor's Degree in Information Sciences or a related area.  New grads encouraged to apply.

Ability to develop and manage relationships both internally and externally

 Ability to market the labs to the right audiences

Excellent communication skills, including the use of information and communication technologies and web-based collaborative tools

Ability to compile information into report form

Ability to successfully work as a member of a team
