Steam Plant Supervisor, Fs Steam Plant

Regular, Full-time - MR10

To assist the General Superintendent in the performance of his duties and to keep all equipment and infrastructure at the plant in top working order. To lay out work and provide technical direction for the performance of necessary tasks, to supervise and train others in the skills, techniques and abilities required to perform such work, to share and expand the specific, collective knowledge of this position and to provide training opportunities for subordinate employees thereby preparing them for advancement. To order materials as needed for current projects and to oversee the procurement and inventory of parts or supplies required for the continued and uninterrupted operation of the Steam Plant. Responsibilities include supervision of subordinates and oversight of all steam plant functions and activities. This position will be responsible for the commitment of funds within limits set forth by the Superintendent. The position will also be responsible for records keeping and correspondence as necessary to communicate operational problems or need. This position will interact and correspond with other shops and divisions. Additional responsibilities such as interaction with local utility providers, contractors, and the general public are included.

Overtime work as necessary to provide uninterrupted operations are a necessity of this position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must possess technical knowledge and experience directly related to Steam Plant systems, their maintenance, operation, and repair. Must have excellent operational skills and be able to supervise and train others in the skills needed to perform work. Must be innovative and intuitive concerning operational techniques and have the ability to work long hours as necessary to insure uninterrupted plant operations.The ability to supervise, train and motivate work teams.



Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of 8 years’ experience in Steam Plant type operations, maintenance and repair, including but not limited to Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fabrication and or related work. Technical background and work experience that provides a comprehensive understanding of such work and industry best practices.

Applicant must have, and maintain, a valid State of Tennessee Driver’s License.
