Sr. Carpenter I, Fs Construction Services

Regular, Full-time - MR07

Performs general commercial construction work, including but not limited to, layout, repair, and maintenance of buildings and structures. Under general direction, Senior Carpenters perform the most difficult work and are responsible for the technical guidance and training of carpenters assigned to a crew or project.

    Performs basic masonry including block, brick, precast, stone, and tile.Receives work projects within assigned area of responsibility; assists in the supervision of a work crew by assigning duties and reviewing work for compliance with instructions.Assists in checking completed work for adherence to blueprints, specifications, dimensions, and instructions.Must have the knowledge to build forms for concrete pours; experienced in pouring and all phases of finishing concreteOperates and maintains stationary woodworking equipment including table saws, band saws, boring machines, planers, jointer's and sharpers.Operates power hand tools including, jig saws, reciprocating saws, drills hammer drills, drivers, impact drivers, and screw guns.Operates personnel lifts ( platform or boom ) and forklifts if needed for projects.    Assists with walkthroughs to see if a job is completed correctly.Provides technical assistance and guidance.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Valid Tennessee Driver’s License

High School Education; 6 years of experience or trade school and experience (Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis)

Skilled in the safe operation of power tools. Skilled in all aspects of blueprint reading, measurements, and symbols.  Ability to supervise others. Knowledge of building codes and regulations. Knowledge of general carpentry technology and fundamental principles of structural layouts, dimensions, and components.  Ability to read and interpret oral and written instructions. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Applicant must have knowledge of safe work practices, be in good physical health, and able to perform moderately strenuous work activities.  Also, applicant should have the ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.
