Store Manager, Volshop (Commons & Cumberland)

Regular, Full-time - MR08

Manager of both the Commons VolShop store and the Cumberland VolShop store. Responsible for the operations of both stores, providing direction and leadership to the staff for both locations. Hires, trains, and evaluates student staff. Ensures both locations are merchandised well, are well-maintained and communicates with VolShop on-campus locations. Monitors and evaluates store financial reports. Provides feedback on store operations and opportunities.

 

WORK PERFORMED

Provides direction and leadership to two retail stores for the VolShop; the University Commons VolShop and the Cumberland Ave. VolShop. Responsible for all operational aspects of store management; hires, trains, evaluates and schedules up to 20 student staff for both stores. Works with supervisor to acquire card/key access for store entry by staff, communicating with HR manager for employee hires and terminations. Provides direction and implementation of daily tasks for staff. Works with supervisor to establish store sales goals, monitoring and controlling expenses, and managing staffing in relation to sales patterns. Trains and role models exceptional customer service. Resolves customer complaints and requests. Coordinates and communicates with Student Union VolShop and exceptional organizational skills and excellent communication.

Reconciles daily sales processes with VolShop Accounting for accuracy and cash control. Resolves all cashiering transaction errors and is accountable for providing documentation to VolShop Accounting staff and University Accounting. Responsible for the merchandising layout of both stores; working with the merchandise buyers to ensure appropriate merchandise assortments for both stores. Transfers merchandise as needed for online orders and coordinates and coordinates merchandise needs in other stores. Responsible for loss prevention best practices; investigating and reporting inventory shortages. As needed, transfers merchandise from store locations to order fulfillment. Coordinates merchandise delivery with distribution center.

As needed, opens and closes stores daily, ensures stores are neat, clean, and organized. Works with Marketing manager on updated signage needs and participates in monthly marketing planning. Ensures all store information on website is accurate and up to date. Participates in annual physical inventory of stores. May work non-traditional campus hours, including nights and weekends. Must work all home football games. Responsible for covering staff shortages.

 



Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree

3-5 years experience supervising 10 or more employees

3 years experience working in a fast-paced retail environment

3-5 years experience with point of sale, cash handling, and customer service

Ability to work nights and weekends and all home football games for the University of TN

PREFERED REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree

Multi-store supervision experience

Knowledge of the college market
