Administrative Coordinators typically support a composite of several operational functions including fiscal administration, procurement, human resources, academic support, student services, communications, grants administration, and other administrative functions. They are able to independently understand and interpret policy and use judgment to perform their duties.
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise (UVA Wise), seeks a full time Administrative Coordinator to support four academic departments and media services in daily operations and department specific projects.
The Administrative Services Professional performs both technical and complex projects as well as general clerical work in support of the day-to-day operations of four academic departments (Communication Studies, Education, History, and Language and Literature) and Media Services. The Administrative Services Professional performs advanced, diversified and confidential administrative duties requiring broad and comprehensive experience, competencies, and knowledge of organizational policies and practices. The incumbent must exercise discretion in handling confidential, sensitive, and timely information. Responsibilities include preparing meeting agendas and other correspondence, coordinating office calendars, anticipating and preparing for leadership activity and meetings, taking initiative for tracking, attending meetings for purpose of recording, preparing, and distributing minutes and reports, and completing a variety of non-routine assignments. This role will serve as the records manager for multiple departments.

- A bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Must have experience working Microsoft Office.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills and have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
- Must have experience with managing calendars and coordinating appointments
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings and programs.

COVID Vaccination Requirement
The University of Virginia expects all current and new employees (UVA Health System and Academic), to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
