Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

Process payment requests for vendors, contractors, and travel reimbursements.

Payroll disbursements done in a timely manner and in compliance with university policies and procedures.

Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable for all programs administered by the office and maintain all accounting records.

Track revenue and expenses for all programming encompassing multiple accounts. Reconcile accounts monthly.

Assist with forecasting and financial analysis. Prepare working papers and schedules for financial reporting.

Review credit card logs and provide training to office staff to ensure compliance.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize competing projects and consistently meet deadlines.

Strong oral and written communications skills.

Process all paperwork for new hires, terminations, and special payment stipends. Maintain correspondence and extension faculty payroll.

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting or finance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with governmental accounting and reporting guidelines.

Demonstrated experience in managerial accounting.

Accounting experience in Higher Education.

Experience conducting statistical analysis.

Demonstrated experience with advanced Microsoft Excel techniques.

Demonstrated experience with SAP.

Job Description:

Responsible for ensuring the proper recording, auditing, reconciliation, and reporting of financial transactions and to provide forecasts of expenditures and revenues in multiple accounts.

Job Duties:

The primary purpose of the Accountant II is to perform all accounting functions for the programs administered by the Office of Distance and Extended Learning (ODEL) and ensure the proper recording of revenues and expenditures. This position is also responsible for auditing and reconciling multiple accounts encompassing all activities of the continuing education (CE) program and the Certified Public Manager (CPM) program. Position also assists with managerial accounting needs of the Extended Learning Services Coordinator, AVPAA Coordinator, and the Assistant Vice President of ODEL.
Duties include:
Review and analyze general ledger accounts for integrity as well as compliance with applicable principles, standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Identify required adjustments and assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements.
Extract data and analyze financial transactions and reports.
Prepare spreadsheets to facilitate interpretation of data.
Prepare and submit various moderately complex journal entries in the university’s accounting system (SAP).
Work as a team member to facilitate cross-training and perform duties necessary for the effective operation of the department.
