Department Information

The Deparment of Academic Technology Services of ITS provides a variety of Audio Visual and Multimedia Services to the University of West Georgia. Classroom emergencies and maintenance as well as AV design and installation is managed by our Academic Technology Support Team. Equipment checkout, special event support and graphic services are handled by our Multimedia Services Team.

Creation of visual aids such as on-screen presentations are very helpful for integrating technology in the classroom and conference room. The Multimedia area offers graphic design, video and audio editing, text and image scanning, photo editing, conversion of video or audio to computer formats, and CD/DVD burning/duplicating. Customer should provide their own media storage (CDs, DVDs, Flash Drive, Hard Drive, etc).

Job Summary

This is an Academic Technology Services position that will provide core IT technical support and Event Support services. Core support includes troubleshooting, repair, quoting, and training for computer and base AV components and systems. Activities include research, quote, install, maintain, repair, train customers, and coordinate with vendors. Event support includes overseeing circulation equipment and supporting events across campus and occasionally off campus. Customers include Academic and Administrative Services utilized by administrators, faculty, staff, students and guests. The position also delivers high level IT related customer service.
Provides high level event support for UWG VIPs on and off campus. Candidate should have understanding of audio visual systems including projectors and microphones. Candidate will work with on-campus and off-campus partners to plan and execute audio/visual needs for VIP users while maintaining high customer skills and professionalism.
Flexible schedule required allowing some special evening and weekend support as needed.
Standard work week may include Saturday support.

Technical (includes) Troubleshooting, Repair, Quoting, Installation, Maintaining, Imaging, Demonstrated skill level & knowledge, understanding of all phases of the job, problem-solving, making timely and practical decisions, timely communications and updating of data base, meeting preparation and participation, deliver on assignments and results, providing technical expertise.

Customer Service - internal and external customers (includes) professionalism, listening, expressing ideas, adherence to service level agreements (SLA), providing relevant & timely information, responsiveness, courtesy, work effectively in teams, deliver on assignments and results, provide training, and effective vendor relations.


Administrative - 20
General (includes) time management, planning, organizing, promoting innovation, budget compliance, independent actions, personal goal accomplishment, as well as compliance with University and departmental mission, vision, and values.


Project Management - 5
Project Management (includes) timely communications and updating of the data base, meeting preparation and participation, deliver on assignments and results and providing technical expertise.


Research & Self Development - 10
Research & self development (includes) personal development, work relevant training and certifications, remaining current on new processes and industry trend, researching new technologies, trends, and processes.


Other duties - 5
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor based on business need.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree

Other Required Qualifications
OR High School Diploma and 3 years' demonstrated experience in technology related position with training in technology-related installations, trouble-shooting hardware and software in a networked environment; OR a combination of education and demonstrated experience.

Required Experience
1 (or more) years of demonstrated experience in technology related position with training in technology related installations, trouble-shooting hardware and software in a networked environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
Industry certifications for computer, audio visual, network, service desk. Demonstrated experience with Active Directory administration; server administration; or database administration.

Proposed Salary

$40,056/annual; $19.18/hour

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of basic software (e.g. MS Office, Adobe Suites and Antivirus). Knowledge of basic PC and Mac hardware and configurations. Knowledge of basic audio visual components and interconnections. Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to a diverse constituency.
