Reporting to the Director of the HOPE Initiative, the HOPE Initiative Professional Development Coordinator (Senior Special Programs Coordinator) is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the HOPE Initiative's ongoing professional development efforts. This position is charged with developing and implementing professional development programming, resources and services that are focused on eliminating barriers to the success of Black and Latino males at BHCC and beyond for Bunker Hill Community College faculty, staff, administration, and partners--making appropriate referrals where necessary. Working collaboratively with Bunker Hill's Latino Student Success Initiative (LSSI), AANAPISI leadership team, HSI Program and the Center for Equity and Cultural Wealth (CECW), the HOPE Initiative Professional Development Coordinator will play a central role in assessing and addressing systemic and institutional inequities in education through the implementation of regular professional development activities. This position will effectively use various tools/services to promote a student-centered, asset-based learning/working environment for the campus community that centers cultural wealth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate institutional professional development programs and events focused on the empowerment and success of Black and Latino males.
- Facilitate the development and delivery of workshops that serve the professional, educational, and training needs of the BHCC community in collaboration with other offices (AANAPISI, CECW, LSSI, HSI) as applicable.
- In coordination with the HOPE Director and HOPE Navigator, monitor professional development budgets.
- Monitor and evaluate training programs to ensure they are current and effective.
- Ensure delivery of training to employees using a variety of instructional modalities.
- Participate in meetings, workshops and trainings for conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Identify, acquire, and make available to faculty/staff relevant resources, training and learning materials (such as courses, materials, training consultants) to develop new programs that meet staff training needs; work collaboratively with the Library and Learning Commons staff to secure institutional access to materials as needed.
- Proactively identify, track and monitor Black and Latino male student populations and identify barriers to success that can be addressed through professional development activities in collaboration with the HOPE Director and Office of Institutional Effectiveness and using dialog series, surveys, and one-on-one interactions with faculty/staff/administration to construct a foundation for proscriptive programming, training, and workshops.
- Develop and coordinate HOPE faculty fellows program.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that student centered, asset-based components are integrated in curricular and co-curricular activities.
- Collaborate with HOPE Leadership Team and other campus departments in the design, marketing, implementation and assessment of programming.
- Coordinate outreach strategy and program to faculty/staff/administrators in recruitment of prospective faculty/staff collaboration.
- Serve as liaison to the Center for Equity and Cultural Wealth Steering and Institute committees.
- Master's degree from an accredited institution and three years of full-time experience or an equivalent combination of education and employment or training
- One year experience in teaching and/or instructional design
- Familiarity with online tools for teaching and learning (Moodle, ePortfolio, Google Classroom, YouTube, etc.) and social media
- Demonstrated experience teaching and/or implementing cultural wealth, equity-minded, and/or culturally relevant practice
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- Must be a team player/leader, and place a high priority on creative outreach and building relationships
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing programs with deadline dependent tasks
- Demonstrated experience in understanding, interpreting and applying systemic change from quantitative and qualitative data collection
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to work with a diverse, faculty, staff and student population
- Experience managing and supervising staff/students
- Experience working with underrepresented groups
- Experience developing and implementing training programs
- Experience in nonprofit, community college and/or community-based organizations
Salary range: $59,244.00 - 65,000.00 *Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
*This position is Grant funded through June 2022 with continuation pending availability of funds.
