Departmental Objective:Plant Operations is responsible for maintaining campus buildings utilizing the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades as well as housekeeping and floor maintenance.
Purpose of the Position:This position will ensure the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing various housekeeping tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:Required:
Knowledge of cleaning methods
Knowledge of cleaning supplies
Skilled in the use of housekeeping equipment
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., tolerate frequent bending, stooping, and climbing stairs
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain positive relations with faculty, staff and students
Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift and weekend hours
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :Education Required: Valid driver’s license
Experience Required: Experience in cleaning methods and cleaning supplies.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :Education Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Preferred: Previous experience working at a university. Experience using a buffer. Experience using a scrubbing machine.

Conditions of Employment:This is an HOURLY position and does NOT entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits and is limited to 1500 hours in a 365-day period;
Selected candidate will be required to attend a 2-Day New Employee Orientation Program.
