The Physician Assistant (PA) Program at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine invites applications for the position of Director of Clinical Education. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty position. Reporting directly to the PA Program Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for all administrative and clinical aspects of the PA Program clinical education. The PA Program was established in 2016 and is part of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine which includes a comprehensive and innovative spectrum of health science programs with a learner-centered environment and a commitment to interprofessional education. The primary responsibilities of the PA Program Director of Clinical Education is to provide effective leadership and management of a graduate-level PA program’s clinical education, including the planning and coordination of the clinical education and clinical practice components, organizing , structuring, and scheduling the clinical curriculum and rotations in accordance with established education standards and practices, and utilizing the student evaluation system to assess student progress of essential practice skills and clinical competency for each clinical discipline. One day a week of clinical practice is expected in the applicant’s area of expertise. The Director of Clinical Education will demonstrate commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulationsRequired Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in related field and five years experience in health care. Must be National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certified and be a South Carolina licensed Physician Assistant (PA) or eligible to become a SC licensed Physician Assistant. This is a full-time, 12-month non-tenured track faculty position.Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledgeable about Physician Assistant programs including organization, administration, fiscal management, continuous review and analysis, planning, development, and the accreditation process. Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent planning, administrative and organizational skills.
Knowledge of statistical evaluation. Advanced computer skills.
Negotiation and mediation skills.
Ability to deal effectively with individuals. Ability to perform clinical medicine duties in teaching and in clinical practice. Knowledgeable of current and future physician assistant practice standards and roles.
Previous experience as a director of clinical education or in physician assistant education. Demonstrates excellence in teaching and clinical practice.Desired Start Date:
