  • Demonstrated skills in quality customer service
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the practice of open and effective communication with students, faculty and staff to build and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience working with multiple Greek governing councils
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of fraternity and sorority life operations that includes a strong focus of student leadership development, healthy behaviors, and service to the community
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Physical abilities to perform all job duties
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
  • Understanding the role of students and student development in self governance
  • Willingness to adjust personal schedule to needs of programming, and the necessity to observe, participate in, and evaluate programs. Understanding and demonstrated commitment to programs and activities that support an inclusive an diverse campus community.

Responsibilities The Assistant Director of Student Porgrams/Fraternity & Sorority Life is a critical part of the campus life experience for our students. The Assistant Director has direct oversight of our entire Fraternity and Sorority Life community while also providing oversight and supervision for the Coordinator of Civic Engagement. The Assistant Director is chiefly responsible for cultivating a thriving campus life experience through their assigned areas of responsibility. While serving as the campus expert and point of contact for Fraternity & Sorority Life, this position ensures community compliance with all national council and university rules and guidelines, as well as compliance with local, state, and federal laws. The Assistant Director will recommend and enact programming designed to increase scholarship, leadership, service and friendship amongst our Greek community. The Assistant Director of Student programs will also be called upon to serve as an engaged member of our cross-functional team. They are expected to be a productive member of our collaborative environment ultimately focusing on the creation of a thriving campus environment for all of our student. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Serve as primary staff advisor to the fraternity and sorority community
    Advise the executives of the Interfraternity Council, College Panhellenic Association, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and Order of Omega.Coordinate recruitment/intake for all social fraternity and sorority organizations that create a welcoming environment for all students. Build partnerships with chapter advisors in the local community, inter/national headquarters staff, and national councils that promote healthy and productive chapters.Educate student members about various risk management laws and policies such as hazing, alcohol, other drugs, etc.Work to ensure adherence with local, state, and federal laws, and any applicable university policies. Serve as the staff advisor for council judicial processes.
Provide opportunities for engaging programming
    Coordinate an engaging fraternity and sorority experience for our entire fraternity and sorority community. Programming should include a mix of educational and social activities designed to assist students in their retention and persistence to college graduation.Create and sustain a healthy fraternity and sorority environment that values peer-to-peer conflict resolution, individual and chapter responsibility, and a culture of inclusion.
Supervise and develop assigned coordinators and graduate assistants.
    Oversee the creation and execution of an environment that promotes civic engagement through volunteer opportunities and local, state, and national political involvement. Inspire, challenge, and hold accountable direct reports to create an environment of inclusivity and respect for all students, faculty, and staff. Create partnerships with multiple departments and divisions across campus to create mutually beneficial opportunities for students to get engaged in the life of the university.Create and enact a culture of staff development centered on the university’s core valuesEnsure that staff follow all applicable university and University System of Georgia policies and guidelines
