Members of People Services work in close collaboration with all three business units to meet their client’s needs and expectations. People Services is not only directly accountable to the Associate Chancellor/Chief HR Executive, but also has a duty to meet the service expectations of the executive director for each local HR unit. The objective of People Services is to position ourselves to cultivate a strong, collaborative relationship with HR and its clients, identify opportunities for enhancing organizational effectiveness, and serve as a technical point-of-contact for assigned functional area. The Talent Representative, under general supervision, supports a centralized employment process at UCI. Serves as a subject matter expert in recruitment and onboarding processes and systems. Performs a host of services in support of recruitment and onboarding activities. Coordinate’s onboarding paperwork, background checks, I-9 verifications, and license verifications as well as analyzing issues and advising stakeholders, as appropriate. Provides general recruitment supports, such as assisting applicants with applying for jobs and troubleshooting technical issues. Ensures compliance with UC policies, UCI procedures, and US and California employment law, especially as it relates to employment eligibility. Uses professional employment and staffing techniques and concepts for employment and policies for the organization. Employment area of moderate scope and complexity. Works on employment onboarding for all levels of positions. Works on recruitment support for all levels of positions. Normally receives general direction on staffing and employment assignments, with more detailed direction provided on new or more specialized and complex assignments. Exercises judgment within defined staffing and employment procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Works with internal and external contacts. Compensation Range: Hourly: $25.62 - $37.64 Department Website: https://hr.uci.edu/ Required: 1-3 years’ experience in a professional office environmentBachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Working knowledge of the recruitment and onboarding processes.Effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as active listening and critical thinking skills. Basic knowledge of employment law, especially as it pertains to employment eligibility.Working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas.Demonstrated abilities associated with problem identification; reasoning; ability to work with business units in the development of ideas to solve staffing issues.Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations.Knowledge of HR processes and forms and knows organizational and departmental principles and procedures.Knowledge of common software systems used within employment and other areas of HR, and how they work together. Preferred: Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). This position may be required to report at different work sites between the campus in Irvine and medical center in Orange. The incumbent must be able to provide their own means of transportation to/from work locations. Final candidate subject to background check.
