Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, construction, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The Landscape Services department is seeking a highly motivated and focused individual to work alongside the Landscape Construction Manager, Landscape Architect and Landscape GIS Analyst with recordation of $2.5 million worth of improvements on campus annually. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience building relationships with teams; be knowledgeable in constructing a site design, managing a project, staking and/or calculating survey points for alignment and grading, be able to operate traditional and GPS survey equipment (Trimble), have Autodesk CAD experience to render drawings and update campus base map using field collected data, have the ability to multi-task successfully and manage stressful situations professionally and be able to demonstrate respectful and courteous people skills in every interaction.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for this position.

Education: One or more of the following required; Training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience (3 years), associate's or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Training: Employees in this position usually need one year of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers. A recognized apprenticeship program may be associated with this position.

SURVEY EQUIPMENT/HARDWARE:

To have knowledge and operating skills, or to obtain the knowledge and operating skills within a reasonable amount of time of the following survey equipment and/or hardware:

Trimble Equipment: Trimble S6 Robotic total station, Trimble R10 GPS/GNSS, Trimble TSC-3 controller, Trimble Access, Trimble Visibility, Trimble Office

MDOT and MSU CORS station/data.
